2015 May 15

Allison Matia of Medina was recognized at the Honors Award Ceremony during Baldwin Wallace University's "Ovation 2015: Unleashed Potential," BW's premier capstone celebration of student achievement. Matia, a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School majoring in neuroscience psychology and psychology, received the Pitcher Psychology Award which recognizes a sophomore or junior psychology major with sound academic achievement who has made a significant scholastic contribution to the Psychology Department. In presenting the award, BW recognized that Matia embodies the ideal for academic success -- high scholastic achievement, deep thinking, and effective communication, coupled with a strong work ethic in the classroom and in experiential learning opportunities. She has greatly contributed to the set-up and progress of the research lab in the Psychology and Neuroscience programs. She serves the greater BW campus and Berea community as a board member of the STAND organization, which promotes human rights. She is also a member of Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology, and Pi Gamma Mu, the National Honor Society for Social Sciences.

Held every spring, Ovation is a high-energy, festive event that spotlights the outstanding creativity, research, and academic and artistic accomplishments of BW students. Ovation brings together the whole BW community to celebrate the excellent work of BW's students and faculty. Representing all schools of the University, over 100 students presented their work in the form of displays, live presentations, performances and more.
