Amanda Frazier helps stage 'The Diviners' at Baldwin Wallace University

2017 May 31

Amanda Frazier of Lorain was part of a talented cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University that staged Jim Leonard, Jr.'s "The Diviners" during the spring 2017 semester. Frazier, a graduate of Clearview High School majoring in theatre design and technical studies, served as lighting designer for the production.

Set in a small Indiana town during the Great Depression, the intimate play about hard scrabble luck and hope details the quiet tragedy that can occur when people attempt to confront their fears and reach for their dreams.

Director Jack Winget said, "[t]his very theatrical play is about small town 'folks' who are trying to do the 'right' thing . . . It is a play about the human spirit." The show also marked a final curtain call of sorts for Winget, who directed this last play before retiring from his longtime post as professor, director, actor, mentor and integral part of BW's Department of Theatre and Dance for 49 years.

"The Diviners" is one of an extensive number of performance experiences providing real-world opportunities for students at Baldwin Wallace University. Productions include plays, musicals, operas, music concerts and dance concerts. Details at www.bw.edu/events.
