2016 Mar 22

Ashley Haviland of Grasonville was among seven exceptional students who received scholarships from the Baldwin Wallace University Women's Club. Scholarships totaling $8,750 were granted to qualifying BW women chosen by the Women's Club Scholarship Committee on the basis of their academic record, future plans, goals and needs. The scholarships were awarded at a luncheon on Feb. 28, 2016.

Haviland, a graduate of Kent Island High School majoring in early childhood education, is the director of chapter facilities for her sorority and a peer mentor in the Honors Program. She has also served as the president of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, the vice-captain and treasurer of the BW Dance Team, a choreographer for the Fyoo zh en dance concert, and a member of the Morale Committee of Dance Marathon. Haviland aspires to move to New York City to teach in diverse communities with students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

The Women's Club, founded in 1921, promotes the interest of Baldwin Wallace University through social, cultural and philanthropic activities.
