Ashley Haviland inducted into Education Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace University

2015 Jun 4

Ashley Haviland of Grasonville was inducted into Baldwin Wallace University's Kappa Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), International Honor Society in Education in the Spring 2015 semester. KDP has been fostering excellence in education and promoting fellowship among those dedicated to teaching since 1911. Membership requires full junior standing; a minimum of 66 semester hours of university credits, a minimum of 16 semester hours of graded work at BW, at least a 3.4 overall GPA, at least 12 semester hours of professional education courses completed, and acceptance into a teacher education program. Haviland, a graduate of Kent Island High School majoring in early childhood education, shared the honor with 18 other top performing juniors and seniors. She has also accepted the position of president of the chapter.

BW's outstanding reputation in teacher preparation gives teacher candidates an edge as they meet a rigorous set of standards on their way to earning a teaching license. BW graduates score above the state and national averages on the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) and are recruited by area districts at a BW-only career fair.

In addition to BW's baccalaureate program, the University has a variety of options for returning adult learners as well as professional development. BW offers collage graduates a Licensure Only Program for initial teacher licensure, a Master of Arts in Education Program for licensed teachers, and a License+Master's Program that combines undergraduate and graduate course requirements leading to initial teacher licensure and a Master of Arts in Education degree.
