Biagio Niro recognized at Baldwin Wallace University's 2015 Ovation Awards Ceremony

Biagio Niro of Seven Hills was recognized at the Honors Award Ceremony during Baldwin Wallace University's "Ovation 2015: Unleashed Potential," BW's premier capstone celebration of student achievement. Niro, a graduate of Padua Franciscan High School majoring in neuroscience biology and biology, received The Mark Gorman Scholarship which is awarded to an outstanding neuroscience major. In presenting the award, BW recognized Niro's outstanding GPA and post as president of BW's chapter of Nu Rho Psi, the National Neuroscience Honor Society. He is currently conducting his thesis research to develop a mutant zebrafish with an enzyme critical in multiple sclerosis and other immune diseases. He wrote and received a grant for his summer research from Nu Rho Psi. He has served in numerous leadership roles on campus including Weekend of Welcome, Summer Orientation and president of his fraternity. He presented his summer scholars research at a regional Neuroscience meeting and Society for Neuroscience meeting in fall 2014. His goal is to enter a Physician Assistant program following graduation.

Held every spring, Ovation is a high-energy, festive event that spotlights the outstanding creativity, research, and academic and artistic accomplishments of BW students. Ovation brings together the whole BW community to celebrate the excellent work of BW's students and faculty. Representing all schools of the University, over 100 students presented their work in the form of displays, live presentations, performances and more.
