Erin Roth inducted into Education Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace University

2016 Jun 21

Erin Roth of Berea was inducted into Baldwin Wallace University's Kappa Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), International Honor Society in Education in the spring 2016 semester. Roth, a graduate of Berea-Midpark High School majoring in early childhood education, shared the honor with 17 other students. She has also accepted the position of secretary of the chapter.

KDP has been fostering excellence in education and promoting fellowship among those dedicated to teaching since 1911. Membership in KDP requires full junior standing, a minimum of 66 semester hours of university credits, a minimum of 16 semester hours of graded work at BW, at least a 3.4 overall GPA, at least 12 semester hours of professional education courses completed, and acceptance into a teacher education program.

BW's outstanding reputation in teacher preparation gives teacher candidates an edge as they meet a rigorous set of standards on their way to earning a teaching license. BW graduates score above the state and national averages on the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) and are recruited by area districts at a BW-only career fair.

In addition to BW's baccalaureate program, the University has a variety of options for returning adult learners as well as professional development. BW offers college graduates a licensure only program for initial teacher licensure, a Master of Arts in Education for licensed teachers, and a license plus master's program that combines undergraduate and graduate course requirements leading to initial teacher licensure and a Master of Arts in Education degree.
