Faith Nordine recognized at Baldwin Wallace University's 2015 Ovation Awards Ceremony

2015 May 15

Faith Nordine of Dover was recognized at the Honors Award Ceremony during Baldwin Wallace University's "Ovation 2015: Unleashed Potential," BW's premier capstone celebration of student achievement. Nordine, a graduate of Dover High School majoring in English, received both the Twila Haines Coxon and A. William Coxon, M.D. Scholarship and the Lillian and Larry D. Bibbee Scholarship. The first is given to a sophomore or junior English major based on academic achievement and creative potential. The second was established to acknowledge deserving students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship in the classroom, a keen interest in independent research beyond that required by the professor, and an active involvement in the university community. In presenting the award, BW recognized that Nordine's creative intuition not only sees patterns of connection within a text that others might miss, but it also enables her to see how everything is interconnected. Every essay she writes contributes to her project of building what she calls "the big picture," a total pattern of significance in both literature and life. For her second scholarship, one nominator said, "In the two years I have known her, she has shown herself to be one of the most impressive students I have taught in many years, and one of the two or three most creative thinkers I have known in my 25 years at BW." She is the current Rev. Paul and Josephine Mayer Rare Book Room Scholar. She is also in the Phi Mu Sorority, the writing club, the marching band, on the staff at "The Mill" and doing an internship at the local Berea United Methodist Church.

Held every spring, Ovation is a high-energy, festive event that spotlights the outstanding creativity, research, and academic and artistic accomplishments of BW students. Ovation brings together the whole BW community to celebrate the excellent work of BW's students and faculty. Representing all schools of the University, over 100 students presented their work in the form of displays, live presentations, performances and more.
