Jack Buddenhagen performs at The Kennedy Center with Baldwin Wallace University Symphonic Wind Ensemble

Jack Buddenhagen of Niagara Falls was among 57 Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music students who embarked on a six-day performance tour of Washington, D.C. with BW's Symphonic Wind Ensemble over 2016 Spring Break. During the tour Buddenhagen, a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield Sr. High School majoring in instrumental performance, interacted with students at Bishop Ireton High School, Robinson High School, Suitland High School and Fairfax High School through a variety of master classes and performances.

The tour culminated with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Brendan Caldwell, and the Bishop Ireton Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Randall Eyles, performing at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The concert featured the premier of "Advance Always: A Celebration of Frank Battisti and Garwood Whaley" written by BW composer-in-residence Clint Needham honoring the two music education luminaries. The ensembles also performed works by Aaron Copland, Edward Grieg and Michael Gandolfi.

William Powell of DC Metro Theater Arts described the concert as "a musical cornucopia of new compositions and aged classics."
