Joshua Bastian helps stage 'Our Town' at Baldwin Wallace University

2018 Jan 18

Joshua Bastian of Medina was part of a talented cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University that staged Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" during the fall 2017 semester. Bastian, a graduate of Cloverleaf Senior High School majoring in arts management and entrepreneurship, played the part of Baseball Player in the production.

In Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, people grow up, get married, live and die in a hauntingly beautiful meditation on the glory of daily existence. In revisiting the American classic, director Scott Plate found relevance for today, "Our restless aim to move on to the next moment consistently makes us miss the mark, and we often live with the vague dissatisfaction that our lives happened to us without our consent. The question the play asks, for me, is what is the mark?"

"Our Town" is one of an extensive number of performance experiences providing real-world opportunities for students at Baldwin Wallace University. Productions include plays, musicals, operas, music concerts and dance concerts. Details at bw.edu/events.
