Josiah Greve of Baldwin Wallace University Selected for USILA/Nike North-South Senior All-Star Game

2017 May 23

Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse senior four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference first-team selection and two-time OAC Defender of the Year Josiah Greve (/Milford High School) will play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike North-South Senior All-Star game.

Greve, who will play on the south team, will be a part of one of the storied traditions in college men's lacrosse that features some of the highest caliber NCAA Division III seniors from across the country. "When I first got the call I was surprised more than anything," said Greve. He continued, "I mean this was one of those goals in the back of my mind when I was doing wall ball, footwork drills, or lifting, but I never thought about having this opportunity."

Head Coach Jason Tarnow proclaimed, "I am so happy for Josiah. It is a huge honor for him as well as our men's lacrosse program." He continued, "Not only does he become the first BW player to play in this game but he also becomes the first OAC player. It is a honor for him to play with 60 of the best players in the country in D3."

This season the three-year captain caused a team-high 30 turnovers and was tied for second on the team with 42 ground balls. The 2016 Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-West Region first-team selection finished his career with a school record 139 ground balls and is second on the BW's all-time ground ball list with 185.

When asked about what excited him most about the game Greve said, "I get to represent my team and all the guys that I have played with throughout my four years here." He continued, "More importantly I get to showcase my abilities that have learned from my coaches that all invested countless hours into my development at every level. I'm just honored to be a part of the North-South game and to receive enough recognition to be even considered to take part of the game. It should be a fun time and a memorable experience. I Hope I can go out and make BW proud."

The North-South games are hosted by Providence College on Friday, May 26 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The Division III game is at 3 p.m. and will be followed by the Division I-II game at 5:30 p.m. The North-South Games begin a Memorial Day weekend filled with lacrosse in the New England region as the lacrosse semi-finals and championships will be held 25 miles north at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
