Kelsey Baehrens published in literary and art journal at Baldwin Wallace University

2017 Apr 13

Kelsey Baehrens of Kailua is among 29 exceptional writers and artists whose work was selected for publication in the 2017 edition of Baldwin Wallace University's annual literary and art journal, The Mill. Baehrens, a graduate of Mid Pacific Institute majoring in theatre acting and directing, published works titled "Trinidad," "The Old Waiter" and "Whiskey Burp."

Each year, The Mill showcases the creative achievements of student writers and artists, across campus and across disciplines. The student-directed and student-operated publication reflects the distinct voices and expressions of BW's talented students and the hard work and dedication of its student staff.

"You often hear about how the humanities are overlooked or underfunded, but this is not so at BW," said Sage Verdi, assistant editor. "We are so fortunate to have dedicated and artistic professors and support for projects like The Mill."

The Mill accepts submissions of poetry, short fiction, novel and drama excerpts, creative non-fiction, hybrid forms, artwork and photography. All works featured in The Mill are reviewed and selected by the journal's editors and selection committee based on the principles of clarity, originality and artistic merit. BW also hosts The Mill Reading Series featuring readings each year by local and national poets and writers.
