Maddie Russell of Baldwin Wallace University Garners All-Ohio Athletic Conference Accolade

Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River High School) is one of 10 Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse student-athletes to garner All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolade.

Russell becomes the first women's lacrosse player in OAC history to earn first-team honors in all four years. She was the OAC Defender of the Year in 2015. This season, Russell led the team in goals (38), ground balls (73), draw controls (56), caused turnovers (35) and free-positon goals (10) and was second on the team in points with 52 and tied for third in assists with 14. For her career, Russell is the school's all-time leader in ground balls (285), points (233), draw controls (199), caused turnovers (174), goals (152) and free position goals (41). She ranks second all-time in assists with 81. Russell is first among NCAA Division III active career leaders in caused turnovers and is second in ground balls. She is a candidate to earn her third Academic All-OAC honor and her second College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 selection.

In addtion, fifth-year Head Coach Kim Russell earned her first OAC Coach of the Year honor. She led the Yellow Jackets to the OAC Tournament Championship game and a share of the OAC regular season title with its best finish in the OAC standings with a record of 7-1. Kim Russell is the only coach in program history and has a career-record of 50-21 in five seasons and a record of 18-7 in conference play. She has guided BW to a share of the OAC regular season crown in 2014 and 2017 and had led the team to the OAC Tournament championship in three of four years.

BW finished the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 13-4 and finished as co-champions in the OAC regular season with a record of 7-1. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship game for the third time in four seasons.
