Madeline Southall honored at Baldwin Wallace University's Student Life and Leadership Awards

2015 May 21

Madeline Southall of Nitro was honored at the Student Life and Leadership Awards Ceremony at Baldwin Wallace University during the spring 2015 semester. Southall, a graduate of Nitro High School majoring in marketing, received the Outstanding Leader of the Year award. The award is presented to a female and a male student leader who have continually exemplified the qualities of leadership, balance, dedication and academic success. They have also positively impacted the BW community through their leadership and have served as role models for others by embodying and uplifting the values and mission of Baldwin Wallace. Southall is also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

The annual ceremony celebrates student leaders, faculty and staff advisors, organizations, and programs that have made an impact on the BW community and beyond. BW students can choose from over 100 student clubs, professional organizations, and honor societies, ranging from community service and political action groups to fraternities and sororities. The University encourages students to participate in a variety of groups to foster leadership skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving. Students are also encouraged to engage in service opportunities at the local, national and international levels through one-time and weekly service projects, alternative break trips, and international service experiences. All service programs are designed and led by student leaders as well.
