Nathan Katz of Baldwin Wallace Garners Second Career Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Weekly Accolade

Baldwin Wallace University senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference men's tennis student-athlete Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley High School) has been named as the OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

Katz, who earns the first OAC men's tennis weekly honor of 2017, helped lead BW to four February non-conference victories against Penn State Behrend College, Franciscan University, Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) College and Westminster (Pa.) College. He and his teammates also helped to win the 500th career match for Head Coach Brian Rector with the victory against Westminster.

Katz was a perfect 4-0 at second singles. He won his match against his Penn State Behrend opponent by scores of 6-1 and 6-2 and earned the win against his Franciscan opponent by identical scores of 6-0. Katz closed out the month by picking up the victory against his Washington and Jefferson opponent by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 and captured the win against his Westminster opponent by identical scores of 6-2.

He and senior Academic All-OAC player Jake Liebler (Medina) won all four matches at second doubles. The duo posted an 8-2 win against Penn State Behrend and earned an 8-2 victory against Franciscan. The tandem ended February with identical 8-0 wins against Washington and Jefferson as well as Westminster.

This season, Katz is undefeated in singles dual matches with a record of 5-0 and has an overall record of 7-3. He and Liebler are a perfect 8-0 at second doubles on the season.

For his career, Katz ranks tied for 17th in school-history with 61 victories and an overall mark of 61-28. He has a career doubles record of 32-14.

Off the court, Katz is a two-time Academic All-OAC and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete selection. He is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. Katz is a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Sunday, March 5 when they open their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina with a pair of matches against Bridgewater (Va.) College and Defiance College at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively. BW will play three other matches while in Hilton Head.
