2016 Mar 22

Neelab Abdullah of Cleveland was among seven exceptional students who received scholarships from the Baldwin Wallace University Women's Club. Scholarships totaling $8,750 were granted to qualifying BW women chosen by the Women's Club Scholarship Committee on the basis of their academic record, future plans, goals and needs. The scholarships were awarded at a luncheon on Feb. 28, 2016.

Abdullah, a graduate of Lakewood High School majoring in public health, is extremely active on BW's campus and in the Cleveland community. On campus she is involved with the Pre-Medical Society and the public health club, Veritas. In the community, she is an assistant with Doctors on the Streets of MetroHealth and volunteers for the Free Clinic of Greater Cleveland as an HIV Intervention Specialist. Abdullah also works as a research assistant in the Cleveland Clinic Pathology Lab and is a family room representative at the Ronald McDonald House. She is passionate about preventative medicine and working with underprivileged populations. Her scholarship will allow her to continue on her path to becoming a family physician.

The Women's Club, founded in 1921, promotes the interest of Baldwin Wallace University through social, cultural and philanthropic activities. Membership is open to all women who have received a degree from BW or have been enrolled at BW for at least one year. The Women's Club funds its scholarships through donations and fundraisers. Scholarship applicants must be planning to be enrolled during the entire academic year, have completed two consecutive semesters at BW as a full time student or 3 consecutive semesters as a non-traditional student, have at least a 3.0 GPA and submit three recommendations.
