Neelab Abdullah honored with Baldwin Wallace University Women's Club scholarship

Neelab Abdullah of Cleveland was among six exceptional students who received scholarships from the Baldwin Wallace University Women's Club. The scholarships were granted to qualifying BW women chosen by the Women's Club Scholarship Committee on the basis of their academic record, future plans, goals and needs. The scholarships were awarded at a luncheon on Feb. 26, 2017.

Abdullah, a graduate of Lakewood High School majoring in public health, is currently vice president of the Pre-Medical Society, treasurer of Fauna and vice president of Veritas. She has also held internships with NEOMED and the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine. In her volunteer work with Doctors on the Street of Metro Health, she assists in providing free health care to the homeless population in Cleveland. Abdullah aspires to practice family medicine and contribute to the improvement of the healthcare industry in Afghanistan, where she was born. Last year, she received the Viola Pearl Moore Zackman and Women's Club Presidents' Scholarships.

The Women's Club, founded in 1921, promotes the interest of Baldwin Wallace University through social, cultural and philanthropic activities. Membership is open to all women who have received a degree from BW or have been enrolled at BW for at least one year. The Women's Club funds its scholarships through donations and fundraisers. Scholarship applicants must be planning to be enrolled during the entire academic year, have completed two consecutive semesters at BW as a full time student or 3 consecutive semesters as a non-traditional student, have at least a 3.0 GPA and submit three recommendations.
