Nicola Patton embarks on Baldwin Wallace University's 'Theatre Seminar in London' program

2017 Nov 10

Nicola Patton of Naperville was among 20 students who participated in BW's "Theatre Seminar in London: The Art and Business of Theatre" program in London and Stratford-upon-Avon, England, during the spring 2017 semester.

Patton, a graduate of Riverside High School majoring in theatre stage management, completed a three-week immersion course in British theatre introducing the historically important theatre culture of London before going on a nine-day experience led by theatre professors Jeff Herrmann and Bob Taylor. The students attended eight performances, including "Julius Caesar" and "Woyzeck." They toured backstage at the National Theatre and the exhibition at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. While abroad, the students also had the opportunity to visit Hampton Court Palace, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Shakespeare's birthplace.

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploration and off-campus study that enhances personal growth, educational enrichment and career development as part of the university's liberal arts effort to cultivate contributing and compassionate citizens. Through faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities, students can build strong communication skills, enhanced critical thinking and personal confidence from trekking the unknown.
