Nikita Martin earns recognition at Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2017

2017 May 15

Nikita Martin of Berea was among over 50 students recognized at the Honors Awards Ceremony during Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2017, BW's annual celebration of student achievement.

Martin, a graduate of Berea-Midpark High School majoring in international studies and political science, received both the Robert and Dorothy Bell Memorial Award in International Studies and the Outstanding Senior Award. The first is given to a graduating senior with potential to promote increased global understanding based on recommendations from the international studies and/or political science faculty members. The second is given to outstanding seniors who are nominated by faculty, staff and students for their contributions to the university community in academics, leadership, service and character.

In presenting the award, BW recognized Martin's strong academic record combined with her enthusiasm, positive outlook, strong leadership skills and extensive service activities. Martin also plans to serve in the Peace Corps making her a role model for increasing global understanding.

Now in its 10th year, Ovation has expanded from a single day to a 10-day festival in order to more fully recognize student success in research and scholarship, the arts, experiential learning and leadership, and athletics. The signature event is the Day of Excellence, which features exceptional student work from every school of the University through posters, displays, live presentations and performances. The day concludes with the campus-wide Honors Awards Ceremony that recognizes student achievement with scholarships and awards.
