Olivia Murphy spends fall 2016 semester studying in Morocco

2017 Mar 15

Olivia Murphy of Johnstown was among 18 Baldwin Wallace University students who spent the fall 2016 semester learning in another country through the BW Study Abroad Center's Independent Study program. Murphy, a graduate of Bishop McCort High School majoring in international studies with a focus on international affairs, traveled to Ifrane, Morocco for an individualized immersion experience at Al Akhawayn University. Al Akhawayn redefines the classic American liberal arts educational experience on an architecturally stunning modern campus amidst the glory of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains. Besides its excellent academic core, the university provides an exciting residential life including hundreds of student-run activities.

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploration and off-campus study that enhances personal growth, educational enrichment and career development as part of the university's liberal arts effort to cultivate contributing and compassionate citizens. Through faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities, students can build strong communication skills, enhanced critical thinking and personal confidence from trekking the unknown.
