Rachel Wilkie embarks on Baldwin Wallace University's 'Global Sport Industry' program

2017 Nov 10

Rachel Wilkie of Munroe Falls was among 27 students who participated in BW's "Global Sport Industry" study abroad program, a transformative learning experience in Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany, during the spring 2017 semester.

Wilkie, a graduate of Twinsburg High School majoring in history and English, received hands-on experience with leaders in the increasingly global sport industry during the two-week experience led by sport management professor Dr. Charles Campisi and sport sciences professor Dr. Amy Jo Sutterluety. Students went on tours of Dublin, Aviva Stadium, Croke Park Stadium, Amsterdam and more. They attended presentations on various sports topics, and learned about the social, political and economic impact and implications of sport from an international perspective. Students also enjoyed visits to historical sites, museums and major landmarks, including the German Sports and Olympic Museum, Anne Frank House and a Rhine River cruise.

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploration and off-campus study that enhances personal growth, educational enrichment and career development as part of the university's liberal arts effort to cultivate contributing and compassionate citizens. Through faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities, students can build strong communication skills, enhanced critical thinking and personal confidence from trekking the unknown.
