Savanah Craig spends fall 2016 semester studying in Scotland

2017 Mar 15

Savanah Craig of Chicora was among 18 Baldwin Wallace University students who spent the fall 2016 semester learning in another country through the BW Study Abroad Center's Independent Study program. Craig, a graduate of Butler Area Sr. High School majoring in biology, traveled to Stirling, Scotland for an individualized immersion experience at the University of Stirling. Stirling aims to be at the forefront of research and learning that helps to improve lives. Working with academic, commercial, public, private and voluntary sector partners, Stirling is one of the UK's leading research universities in the fields of health and wellbeing, the environment and people, culture and society, enterprise and the economy, and sport.

The BW junior had this to say about the experience, "My time at the University of Stirling challenged me to become more independent in my learning and my every day life. I gained a new perspective on my studies and on my role as a global citizen."

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploration and off-campus study that enhances personal growth, educational enrichment and career development as part of the university's liberal arts effort to cultivate contributing and compassionate citizens. Through faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities, students can build strong communication skills, enhanced critical thinking and personal confidence from trekking the unknown.
