Zane Nettles helps present professor's original play at Baldwin Wallace University

2018 Apr 24

Zane Nettles of York was part of the cast and crew that presented professor Les Hunter's original play "Weimar" at Baldwin Wallace. Set in Weimar Republic-era Germany during the early 20th century, the new play follows a group of strong-willed women attempting to resist the increasingly authoritarian leanings of their government. Nettles, a graduate of York Comprehensive High School majoring in theatre design and technical studies, served as the prop designer in the production.

Commissioned by BW to write an all-female play, Hunter collaborated with the actors to come up with the final product, hearing their personal stories and thoughts on current political and social issues. When asked about his inspiration for the play, Hunter said, "We are at a crossroads as a nation where we have options as to how we want the future of the United States to look, and I wanted to explore that in a play."

"Weimar" is one of an extensive number of performance experiences providing real-world opportunities for students at Baldwin Wallace University. Productions include plays, musicals, operas, music concerts and dance concerts. Details at bw.edu/events.
