BW students spend winter break volunteering in San Antonio

Thirty-six compassionate Baldwin Wallace University students made a difference by volunteering at diverse destinations during 2018 winter break. The BW Alternative Break service program gives students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. Each experience is led by a BW student with support from a University faculty or staff adviser. Student volunteers traveled to San Antonio, Chicago, Washington, Seattle and Portland, Oregon.

A group of BW students, alumni and faculty/staff advisers spent two weeks serving in the Dominican Republic. The experience was in partnership with Outreach 360, an organization that focuses on educating children so they can become gainfully employed as adults and "live a life of choice."

Baldwin Wallace University students teach English in the Dominican Republic

Eleven BW students from a variety of majors participated in an International Service Experience trip to the Dominican Republic. The students spent two weeks teaching English to first through seventh graders at Escuela Basica John F. Kennedy in Monte Cristi. Other activities included exploring the city and participating in educational and cultural activities.

An inaugural trip to Guatemala brought intrinsic meaning and impactful service opportunities to 20 BW Honors Program students and faculty. The two-week trip was the culmination of a program that combined eight weeks of in-class study with overseas travel.
