Three BW students had the unique opportunity to participate in a faculty-led study abroad program in Guatemala. Dr. Laura Hopkins took the students to Panajachel to collect data on childhood nutrition.

Thirty-two students took their learning off campus during the 2023-2024 academic year. With help from the BW Center for Global Exploration's Independent Study program, students created individualized immersion experiences across the globe.

Thirty-two BW students had the unique opportunity to participate in a faculty-led study abroad program in Ireland and Northern Ireland led by coaches Cheri Harrer and Tom Neil.

Nineteen BW students had the unique opportunity to participate in a faculty-led study abroad program in London, guided by professors Tesia Benson and Jeff Herrmann of the Theatre and Dance Department. Students experienced an immersion in British Theatre, along with historical and cultural activities and sights.

Twenty BW students had the unique opportunity to participate in a faculty-led study abroad program in Iceland, guided by Drs. Carrie Davis Todd of biology and geology and Jill Stephens Fleisher of sociology.

Eleven BW students participated in a faculty-led study abroad program in Guatemala. Drs. Javier Morales Ortiz of political Science and Kelly Coble of philosophy took students to Guatemala to learn about cultural and ethical perspectives while exploring pathways to positive social changes.

Twenty-five BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Germany, exploring the theory and the praxis of intercultural communication by immersing themselves in the language and culture of Germany. Students spent time in Berlin and Munich, where they visited German sites of world, historical and cultural significance while learning how to stay healthy and practice wellness abroad.

Twenty-four students took their learning off campus during the 2021-2022 academic year. With help from the BW Study Abroad Center's Independent Study program, students created individualized immersion experiences in Austria, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Switzerland.

Fourteen BW students participated in a faculty-led study abroad program in Ghana. Drs. Thomas Sutton of political science, Nicholas Mays of history and Christian Nsiah of business took students to Ghana to learn about the history and effects of forced migration and the impact of colonialism on the society.

Twenty-three BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Iceland, exploring the country through an examination of its people and natural history. Special attention was given to Iceland's unique geological setting and commitment to sustainability. Students gained first-hand knowledge of these topics through day trips to various sites of geologic, environmental and cultural significance, including Gullfoss Waterfall.

Twenty-one BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Germany, exploring the theory and the praxis of intercultural communication by immersing themselves in the language and culture of Germany. Students spent time in Berlin and Munich, where they visited Germany's sites of world, historical and cultural significance, including the Brandenburg Gate and Neuschwanstein Castle. While in Berlin, students also studied German at the German Language School.

Twenty-nine BW women's soccer players participated in a study abroad program in Costa Rica, a transformative weeklong experience during the spring 2019 semester. The program gave them the opportunity to play soccer, provide a children's soccer clinic and participate in a variety of cultural activities.

Nineteen BW speech-language pathology graduate students participated in a service-learning program in Zambia, Africa, a transformative two-week clinical practicum providing speech and language services at a variety of sites around the country.

Nineteen BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Ghana, a transformative three-week experience in Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast, during the spring 2019 semester. The program provides the opportunity to learn about business, politics and culture in Ghana.

Twenty-three BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Brazil, a transformative 18-day experience in Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Honey Island and Iguazu Falls, during the spring 2019 semester. The program provides the opportunity to experience Brazilian culture, visit sports venues and world heritage sites, and learn about Brazil's economy.

Twenty-four BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Japan, a transformative two-week experience in Tokyo, Osaka, Nara and Kyoto, during the spring 2019 semester. The program provides the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture and how social perception impacts intercultural interactions.

Twenty BW students participated in the faculty-led study abroad program in Zambia, a transformative two-week experience during the spring 2019 semester. The program provides the opportunity for students to produce a documentary about how theatre can enact social change.

Twenty-six students spent the spring 2019 semester away from BW learning off campus. With help from the BW Study Abroad Center's Independent Study program, students created individualized immersion experiences in Australia, Austria, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Scotland and Sweden.

The program provides students the opportunity to experience firsthand the way physical education and coaching can positively impact students academically or athletically while also touring some of Ireland's iconic sites.

The program provides the opportunity for students to explore intercultural communication, both in theory and practice, by experiencing the language and culture of Germany firsthand.

Eighteen BW students participated in the "Discover the Dominican Republic" study abroad program, a transformative two-week experience focusing on food and nutrition in the Dominican Republic, during the spring 2018 semester. The program provides insight into not only food and nutrition in the Dominican Republic, but also Dominican-Haitian relations, history and culture through guest lectures and living with Dominican host families.

Nineteen BW students participated in the "Discovering China" study abroad program, a transformative three-week experience in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing, during the spring 2018 semester. The program provides students with the chance to experience the history and culture of China while also giving them insight into modern international business.

Eighteen BW speech-language pathology graduate students participated in a new, distinctive service-learning program in Zambia, Africa, a transformative 15-day clinical practicum providing speech and language services at a variety of sites around the country.

Nineteen BW students participated in the "Ghana Beat: The Drums of Tradition and Change" study abroad program, a transformative three-week learning experience in Ghana, West Africa, during the spring 2017 semester. The program provides opportunities for students to learn about the nation's political and legal systems as well as music, dance and traditional practices.

Twenty-seven BW students participated in the "Global Sport Industry" study abroad program, a transformative two-week experience in Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany, during the spring 2017 semester. The program provides an opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with leaders in the expanding global sport industry.

Twenty BW students participated in the "Theatre Seminar in London: The Art and Business of Theatre" program, a transformative nine-day experience in London and Stratford-upon-Avon, England, during the spring 2017 semester. The program exposes students to British theatre in an immersive and international way.
