BW celebrates outstanding multicultural students each spring with the Obie Bender Multicultural Awards. The awards honor and affirm the contributions of underrepresented members of the BW community as well as those who contribute to the overall spirit of inclusion. The awards are named for Dr. Obie Bender '62, who was an officer of the University for 36 years. Throughout his tenure, Bender provided exceptional leadership as a BW administrative liaison and was responsible for intercollegiate athletics, campus security and the health and physical education and recreation facilities.

The group of 11 students, representing 10 majors, will spend the academic year turning passion into opportunity via innovation, entrepreneurship and integrity-based leadership. The fellows will meet with global and local leaders in innovation and work on projects that will give them first-hand experience.

Students at Baldwin Wallace University elected their 110th student body president and vice president on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The winning pair of president Lizzy Cole of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and vice president Matt Perry of Mentor, Ohio, officially took office during an inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
