Under the direction of assistant professor of acting and directing Laura Welsh Berg, BW students staged Josie Rourke's 2018 adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure."

Twenty-seven outstanding student writers and artists at Baldwin Wallace University are featured in the 2024 edition of The Mill, BW's literary and art journal. The student-directed and student-operated publication showcases the creative achievements of students from across campus disciplines.

Baldwin Wallace University and Playhouse Square co-produced "Ordinary Days," a musical that follows the contemporary and intimate experiences of four young New Yorkers as they navigate the complexities of love, loss and self-discovery.

This spring, the BW theatre and dance community presented "fyoo zh en '24: Spatial Proximity." The annual "fyoo z hen" dance concert combines choreography with faculty research. This year's concert was inspired by Dr. Andrew Merwin's research on how environmental variability and biodiversity influence insect populations.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts co-produced "Ride the Cyclone" under the direction of Victoria Bussert with choreography by Lauren Tidmore and music direction by Matthew Webb. In the spooky, hilariously outlandish story, the lives of six teens are cut short in a freak roller coaster accident, and they are given the opportunity to earn their lives back by telling a story.

The BW Conservatory of Music's music theatre program and the department of theatre and dance co-produced Stephen Schwartz's "Pippin," a story of a young prince looking for passion, fulfillment and meaning in his life.

Under the direction of assistant professor Rene D. Copeland, BW students staged Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," a play with language that is a delightful, hilarious confection with unexpected turns.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts co-produced "Ghost: The Musical" under the direction of Victoria Bussert with choreography by Lauren Tidmore and music direction by Matthew Webb. Based on the 1990 film starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, it tells the story of Sam and Molly, whose lives are forever altered when Sam is killed and needs to protect Molly from his murderer as a ghost.

Under the direction of assistant professor Keira McDonald, BW students staged Mary Zimmerman's "The Secret in the Wings," a play that explores the dark underside of a group of lesser-known fairy tales in a highly theatrical piece.

The BW Conservatory of Music's music theatre program and the department of theatre and dance co-produced Andrew Lippa's "The Wild Party," a show filled with wildly eccentric characters set in the roaring 1920s with an extraordinary jazz score.

Under the direction of BW alumnus Nathan Henry, BW students staged Dominique Morisseau's "Detroit '67," a story of siblings clashing while race riots rage through Detroit in the summer of 1967.

Acting students are adding to their resumes and helping nursing students learn the "art of nursing" through Baldwin Wallace University's new standardized patient program.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts co-produced "Lizzie: The Musical" under the direction of Victoria Bussert with choreography by Greg Daniels and music direction by Matthew Webb. The international sensation took the world by storm in over 60 cities in six countries in five languages across four continents before the pandemic took its 40 whacks.

This spring, the BW theatre and dance community presented "fyoo zh en '22: Revelry or Riot?" The annual "fyoo zh en" dance concert combines choreography with faculty research. This year's concert was inspired by Dr. Dale Sheptak's research on crowd dynamics. Choreographers used movement to illustrate the fine line between supporting your team and breaking the law.

The BW Conservatory of Music's music theatre program and the department of theatre and dance co-produced the Tony Award-winning Stephen Sondheim masterpiece "Into the Woods."

Each spring, 10 select seniors are invited to perform at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music Senior Honors Recital. BW students produced Qui Nguyen's "She Kills Monsters" under the direction of associate professor Keira McDonald during the spring 2021 semester. The play tells the story of Agnes Evans, who, after a tragic accident, tries to reconnect with her dead sister by playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Baldwin Wallace University and Playhouse Square co-produced "BARS (Beatboxing, Acting, Rapping, Singing)" during the spring 2021 semester. The hip-hop, music theatre-based improv show, conceived by BW music theatre alumnus Jay Ellis "JEllis," was an innovative production combining the classic music theatre artform with contemporary skills in beatboxing and rapping.

This spring, the BW theatre and dance community presented "fyoo zh en '21: Floodcity." The annual dance concert fuses choreography with faculty research. This year's concert was inspired by geologist Dr. Carrie Davis Todd's research on the 1889 Johnstown, Pennsylvania, flood. The production used movement to explore the neglect of the South Fork dam belonging to wealthy members of an elite country club and the devastation and impact that followed its failure.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts co-produced "5 New Musicals X 15 Minutes" in their tenth collaboration. The production was done in the form of virtual world premieres of five 15-minute brand new musicals, chosen by National Alliance for Musical Theatre.

Written and directed by BW acting major Sam Sommer, "Staged Reading: A Staged Reading" is about a group of actors putting on a staged reading of a play about a group of actors putting on a play about a staged reading. The show was filmed in BW's Acting Studio with health safety protocols in place and premiered on Sommer's website for a ticketed audience.

BW students staged the humorously quirky "Muses Anonymous," written and directed by assistant professor of dance Sara Whale. The innovative "drive-in" performance allowed the audience to watch the live action from the safety of their vehicles while hearing the muses share some of their most memorable "inspirations" on their radio.

Under the direction of Rene Copeland, assistant professor of directing, BW students staged Aaron Posner's "Stupid F##king Bird." Billed as sort of adapted from 'The Seagull' by Anton Chekhov, the play tells the story of an aspiring playwright who aches to make theatre an agent of change, in revolt against the commercialism his famous actress mother revels in.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts produced "The Scottsboro Boys" under the direction and choreography of Jon Martinez. Based on David Thompson's novel, the musical tells the story of nine young men in a landmark case that helped give rise to the Civil Rights Movement.

This year's concert was inspired by Dr. Ana De Freitas Boe's dissertation on gender, sexuality and race in late 18th-century aesthetics.
