Baldwin Wallace University

The Baldwin Wallace University Honors Program officially inducted 94 students during the spring 2023 semester. The program strives for a learning environment inside and outside the classroom that engages the whole student, seeks to connect theoretical ideas to real-world applications, fosters independent thinking and brings students together into a community of scholars.

Co-hosted by the Student Life Center and the Brain Center for Community Engagement, the Student Life and Leadership Awards recognize and celebrate the co-curricular accomplishments and contributions of BW student leaders, faculty, staff, student organization advisors, student organizations and programs that have made a positive impact on the BW and surrounding communities.

Sixteen Baldwin Wallace University graduates went above and beyond their degree requirements to complete BW's challenging and rewarding Honors program. The motivated students made the most of their college experience by joining a community of scholars dedicated to academic excellence, leadership development and community engagement, developing the whole student along the way. Interdisciplinary and experiential, the BW Honors program offers students unique, seminar-style courses that encourage academic exploration and independent thinking as well as countless opportunities to grow as campus leaders.

The White Rose Ceremony is held annually in memory of Philura Gould Baldwin, granddaughter of BW founder John Baldwin and BW's first librarian. An oration is given, and select female graduates carry white roses in memory of Philura, whose life was cut short by consumption at age 26. While no criteria must be met, each woman must have distinguished herself by making a difference in the BW community.

Baldwin Wallace University senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference men's golfer Ryan Green (Conneaut/Edgewood) has been named the OAC Co-Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career.

For the first time in her illustrious career, Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) has been named the OAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Nine Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball student-athletes have been named to the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 season.

Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been named the OAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the fourth time in her career.

Baldwin Wallace University Head Men's Tennis Coach Brian Rector '89 is pleased to announce that two student-athletes have choses BW to continue their men's tennis careers.

Eight Baldwin Wallace Men's Rugby student athletes selected as National Collegiate Rugby 2022-23 Scholastic All-American. The annual program recognizes high-performing student athletes in college rugby across the nation. To qualify as an NCR Scholastic All-American, student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year and be rostered 50% of the Fall 15's varsity matches or rostered 50% of the varsity Spring 7's tournaments. , selective group of Scholastic All-Americans representing approximately 1 out of 20 student athletes competing in college rugby. Of the 8 BW Scholastic All-Americans, Rowe is a repeat selection. 760 total NCR student athletes from men's and women's teams earned Scholastic All-American honors with 148 colleges represented. Baldwin Wallace Men's Rugby competes in the Allegheny Rugby Union Conference.

National Collegiate Rugby announced the 2022-23 Scholastic All-American selections. Seven Baldwin Wallace University Women's Rugby student athletes made the list. The annual program recognizes high-performing student athletes in college rugby across the nation. The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team has been recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches with a Team Academic Excellence award while five student-athletes have been named to the Honors Court. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2022-23 academic year with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2022-23 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Baldwin Wallace University Football Head Coach Jim Hilvert is pleased to announce that 62 student-athletes have selected BW to continue their football careers.

For the 12th time in the last 13 seasons, the Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team while an Ohio Athletic Conference best 11 student-athletes were named as Scholar Athletes. To earn the team recognition, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale with all varsity letter winners factored into the team GPA. To qualify for the individual honor, a player must carry at least a 3.50 GPA for the academic year and have been listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country and track and field All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America track and field/cross country team.

The Dean's List recognizes students who earn a grade point average of 3.8 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more graded hours during the semester.
