Baldwin Wallace students meld movement and media trends in annual dance concert

This spring, the BW theatre and dance community presented "fyoo zh en," the annual dance concert combining choreography with faculty research. This year's concert was inspired by sociology and criminal justice professor Dr. Brian Monahan's book, "The Shock of the News: Media Coverage and the Making of 9/11," which examines how America's news media influences our perception of social reality.

Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts produced "Once," a testament to the transcendent power of love and music, under the direction of Victoria Bussert with choreography by Greg Daniels and music direction by Matthew Webb. The Plain Dealer called it a "fantastic production that keeps the focus firmly where it should be: the music."

BW's 18th Annual Dance Marathon raises funds to fight pediatric AIDS

Fifty-nine students participated in the 18th Annual Dance Marathon at Baldwin Wallace University. Dance Marathon is the largest philanthropy organization on campus. Lasting 12 hours, the marathon consists of performers, dance and HIV/AIDS education. All proceeds are donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which seeks to educate and reduce the the transmission and cases of pediatric AIDS worldwide.

The winning pair of president Allyson Crays of Warren, Ohio, and vice president Arundhati Gupta of New Delhi, India, officially took office during the inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
