Seven Baldwin Wallace University baseball student-athletes have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Five Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse student-athletes have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

The White Rose Ceremony is held annually in memory of Philura Gould Baldwin, granddaughter of BW founder John Baldwin and BW's first librarian. At the behest of the Baldwin family, an oration is given and select female graduates participate by carrying white roses that serve as a memorial to Philura whose life was cut short by tuberculosis at age 27. While no criteria must be met, each woman must have, in her own unique way, distinguished herself by making a difference in the BW community.

Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis student-athletes sophomore Dominic Polifrone (Hudson), senior Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and sophomore Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.

Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis freshman Liz Radkiewicz (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) was selected as an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honorable mention.

Ovation Festival 2017, BW's annual celebration of student achievement, spotlighted student success in research and scholarship, the arts, experiential learning and leadership, and athletics. The signature event of the 10-day festival was the Day of Excellence, which featured student work from every school of the University through posters, displays, live presentations and performances. The day concluded with the Honors Awards Ceremony that recognized students with scholarships and awards.

Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse senior midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 7 All-District At-Large Team for the second consecutive year.

Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) and senior All-OAC midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) have been selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Great Lakes Region team.

Baldwin Wallace University softball right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) earned her second straight All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolade.

Four graduating seniors successfully nominated high school teachers for special recognition this spring. Teachers who engaged, inspired and encouraged the students, while preparing them for college, were recognized with the James Thomas High School Teacher Award. The award is funded by BW alumnus and trustee James Thomas, chairman and CEO of Thomas Properties Group LLC.

The 2017 Student Life and Leadership Awards recognized the accomplishments of student leaders, faculty and staff advisers, organizations and programs that have made an impact on the BW community and beyond.

BW celebrates outstanding multicultural students each spring at the Obie Bender Multicultural Awards ceremony. The awards are named for Dr. Obie Bender '62, who was an officer of the University for 36 years. Throughout his tenure Bender provided exceptional leadership as a BW administrative liaison and was responsible for intercollegiate athletics, campus security and the health and physical education and recreation facilities.

Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) earned his first career Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor for his strong performance last weekend

Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) and sophomore attack Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) have been named as OAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week.

Baldwin Wallace University junior right fielder Alex Marcum (Granville) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for the second time this season.

Baldwin Wallace University senior men's golf player Scott Schroeder (Aurora) garnered his fourth career Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honor for his strong play at the OAC Spring Invitational.

The following students achieved membership in the BW Sigma Chapter of Phi Sigma Tau, the International Honor Society in Philosophy, in the spring 2017 semester. Undergraduate students are eligible for active membership if they have completed three semesters or five quarters of the college course, rank in the upper 35 percent of their class, and have completed at least two semester courses in philosophy with an average grade of over the second highest grade of the working scale.

Twenty-nine exceptional student writers and artists at Baldwin Wallace University are featured in the 2017 edition of BW's annual literary and art journal, The Mill. The student-directed and student-operated publication showcases the creative achievements of gifted students from across campus disciplines.

The following students achieved membership in the BW Delta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society in the spring 2017 semester. Society membership is extended to students who have completed at least 12 credit hours of history courses; have at least a 3.1 GPA in history courses; and have at least a 3.0 GPA in all non-history courses.

BW student vocalists and orchestra members performed the opera "Dialogues of the Carmelites" during the spring semester. Francis Poulenc's fictionalized portrayal of the Martyrs of Compiegne tells the timely and tragic story of Carmelite nuns who were guillotined in Paris for refusing to renounce their vocation during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror.

Student choreographers and dancers created and performed a collaborative new music and dance project inspired by assistant professor of biology Dr. Karen Munroe's research on the social and mating behaviors of squirrels.

Ten BW students took a walk in the footsteps of NASA astronauts over 2017 spring break, the first college students in the nation to pilot a new NASA educational program designed with the help of BW faculty. The program, which is designed to promote teamwork, problem solving, communication and engineering solutions to space science scenarios, culminated with a graduation ceremony and exclusive "Brunch with an Astronaut."

Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference face-off specialist Alex Fioritto (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) has been named the OAC Men's Lacrosse Defender of the Week for his strong performances last week.

Over 80 students participated in the 16th Annual Dance Marathon at Baldwin Wallace University. Dance Marathon is the largest philanthropy organization on campus. Lasting 12 hours, the marathon consists of performers, dancing and HIV/AIDS education. All proceeds are donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which seeks to educate and reduce the the transmission and cases of pediatric AIDS worldwide.

The BW Women's Club awarded scholarships to six exceptional women on the basis of their academic record, future plans, goals and needs. The scholarships were awarded at a luncheon on Feb. 26, 2017.
