When the Republican National Convention (RNC) came to Cleveland, a select group of Baldwin Wallace University students took full advantage of the event as a living, breathing classroom. Students participated in The Washington Center Academic Seminar, took on RNC internships, got involved as honorary delegates and earned credit as they witnessed American political history in the making.

Baldwin Wallace University students teach English in the Dominican Republic

Eleven BW students from a variety of majors participated in an International Service Experience trip to the Dominican Republic. The students spent two weeks teaching English to first through seventh graders at Escuela Basica John F. Kennedy in Monte Cristi. Other activities included exploring the city and participating in educational and cultural activities.

BW students spend summer break volunteering in North Carolina

Ten environmentally-minded Baldwin Wallace University students spent a week of their summer break making a difference on the North Carolina coast. BW's Alternative Break Service Program provides students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. During this trip, student volunteers helped with environmental justice, sustainability and conservation efforts. The trip was led by BW student Sarah Yeates with support from faculty adviser Jordan Saul.

Baldwin Wallace University Community Research Institute appoints student fellows

The BW Community Research Institute (CRI) has appointed two 2016-2017 CRI Student Fellows. The fellows will participate in survey research design, data collection and analysis, and communicate research findings to the press. CRI, founded in 2005, conducts regional, statewide, and national surveys for government agencies, nonprofits, foundations, community-based organizations, businesses and the media.

Select women recognized at Baldwin Wallace University White Rose Ceremony

The White Rose Ceremony is held annually in memory of Philura Gould Baldwin, granddaughter of BW founder John Baldwin and BW's first librarian. At the behest of the Baldwin family, an oration is given and select female graduates participate by carrying white roses that serve as a memorial to Philura whose life was cut short by tuberculosis at age 27. While no criteria must be met, each woman must have, in her own unique way, distinguished herself by making a difference in the BW community.

The Baldwin Wallace University Honors Program officially inducted 21 students at a pinning ceremony during the spring 2016 semester. The program strives for a learning environment inside and outside the classroom that engages the whole student, seeks to connect theoretical ideas to real world applications, fosters independent thinking and brings students together into a community of scholars.

Baldwin Wallace University Center for Innovation & Growth awards Growth Practice internships

The Center for Innovation & Growth is pleased to name its 2016-17 CIG Growth Practice Interns. The 10 high-achieving students from a broad array of backgrounds work as part of a project team on professional consulting projects for CIG clients, including Cliffs Natural Resources, GOJO, Parker Hannifin, OEC, Westfield and more. They conduct secondary market research and primary market research using Voice of the Customer methodology, delivering results and recommendations in client boardroom presentations. Interns complete 4 weeks of presentation coaching and attend Entrepreneur Tours, meeting and learning from area innovators while building social capital. The internships are made possible through the generous support of The Philip E. & Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation, which pledged $1M to fund the Ratcliffe Student Fellows Program and its complementary internship program within CIG's Growth Practice. The Foundation's goal is to support students in developing entrepreneurial skillsets.
