Sydney Jahnigen won the Mel and Jena Hakola Prize for Academic and Vocal Excellence at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music. Jahnigen, a vocal performance and music education major, won the $5,000 prize created to encourage and reward voice students who demonstrate exceptional vocal, musical, intellectual and creative talents.

BW students spend Winter Break volunteering in San Antonio

As part of BWs Alternative Break service program, a group of 11 students traveled to San Antonio over Winter Break 2015. They took part in a variety of activities exploring issues of hunger and food insecurity in a diverse community including immigrant families and veterans. The Alternative Break experience at BW provides students with opportunities to make a difference, travel to another area, learn new skills and meet people with similar interests.

Students staged "All Shook Up" at Baldwin Wallace University

A talented cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University staged "All Shook Up" during the fall 2015 semester. Directed by Scott Spence, the show combined the legendary music of Elvis Presley with a rollicking and funny book by Broadway veteran Joe DePietro. "All Shook Up" was one of an extensive number of opportunities offered by the Baldwin Wallace music theatre program providing students with real-world performance experience.

All-American Chase Garners Third Career OAC Wrestling Weekly Honor

Baldwin Wallace University Division III All-American 174-pounder Garrett Chase (Erie, Pa./ Cathedral Prep) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the third time in his career. Chase, who is ranked No. 8 in Div. III, had a perfect 4-0 record, including a win versus one nationally-ranked opponent, at the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He twice won the OAC Wrestler of the Week award as a junior in 2014-2015.

Students inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society at Baldwin Wallace University

Eleven Baldwin Wallace University students were inducted into the Beta Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) Honor Society in the Fall 2015 semester. ASL is a premier national honor society recognizing academically outstanding adult students in higher education. Members are selected from the highest 20 percent of eligible adult students who have a minimum 3.2 GPA, 24 graded hours at BW and are matriculated in their first undergraduate degree program.

BW students spend Thanksgiving break serving others in Detroit

As part of BW's Alternative Break program, a group of 11 students traveled to Detroit over Thanksgiving break. They worked with CASS Community Social Services where they prepared a Thanksgiving meal for a local community and explored CASS's Environmental Sustainability initiatives. The students also enjoyed some of Detroit's cultural assets including the Eastern Market, the Motown Museum and the Heidelberg Project.
